Need some info about Tennessee utilities costs?

OK, this is the deal. I will be moving from Massachusetts to Tennessee soon. I'd like to live in the Lebanon area, and need some info about utilities.

The apartment I'm looking into covers gas, water, and trash pickups. That leaves electric, phone, internet and satellite/cable.

My question is this. What do those utilities average. For example, right now, I have the bundle deal from Verizon (phone, long distance, FIOS internet and DirectTV), and it averages 0 or so a month. My average electric bill is 0 or so. I estimate that it will be cheaper in Tennessee, but would like some one from the area to give me a head's up. Thank you in advance.

Answer:
I live in TN, but in the eastern part. Our utilities are lower than many parts of the US because of TVA. I have a 950 sq ft. house and the electric part ran me 60 bucks last month. Also as of today, gas prices here in east TN were 2.80, about 20 cents cheaper than nat'l avg. Keep in mind that the closer you are to Nashville, the more expensive stuff is. Bellsouth (now AT &T) has a package similar to what you have with Verizon for a little bit cheaper. Comcast and Charter serve most of TN (with exceptions) digital cable will cost around 70-80 bucks. Best of luck on your move to the Volunteer State!! email me if you need anymore info. will help if I can. I have friends from college who live in other parts of the state and I can get info from them as well.

I can't give you the rates, just be aware that the state's 8 1/4% sales tax applies to your bill.

On the other hand, there's no state income tax.
