Has women's interest in general video pornography increased over the years ?
The last statistic I could come up with is a book published in the late 1980's which stated that 20 - 30% of all XXX video rentals were by women.
Of course, with the prevalence of pornography on the internet and satellite TV today, and the ability to view it privately, it would be harder to quantify.
From my own circle of friends (all college students at present), they've stated that when they did see it, it was most of the time through their boyfriend's initiative - and sometimes through personal curiosity.

I certainly don't watch it. Most of it is anal and anal to mouth and gross stuff like that. And with the new fad being gonzo porn, ew.
I certainly am not going to promote the pornography industry. They make billions every year and I would guess that there's a correlation between the internet porn industry and the fact that there are asian nations that their GDP depends upon American men coming over there to "buy" little kids and prostitutes for a night. Wonder where they troll for these "trips", eh? The porn industry is out of control, especially on the internet.

That makes me sad to hear that women are stooping to the level of watching the garbage. I have always thought that it was bad enough that they made the videos, and I always felt sorry for the women that were caught in that kind of lifestyle, because no lady should ever have to do that for a living. But it really makes me sick to think that women are actually renting the garbage also, I always thought that we were smarter than that. I believe it is an addiction and one of the major causes of crimes, and divorces in our Nation. Those stats make me very sad to think that women are actually watching the crap.

In The UK, The Victorians were well into pornography, both genders.

We had this RA in college who was a little bit off the beaten path.
At midnight on saturdays he would open the study lounge and discretly pop in porn on the vcr and tv there
he would invite guys and women in on the downlo .

The sex act itself is both beautiful, holy, mysterious, and a divine gift from our creator.
What's unfortunate is the portrayal and context of it in the pornography media empire today - most of which is controlled by organized crime. Most of the industry is headquartered in Northern California and its product is distributed all over the world.
It's one, two or more people engaging in an unmarried sex context and performing certain acts some of which have to be considered unhealthy - anal sex for one. Anal bacteria should not be introduced anywhere else.
And to certain people, pornography can be addictive.
Sex in its proper context is a very intimate, personal, and mysterious act between 2 loving married people and God. It's two individuals surrendering themselves completely to one another. The two become ONE !
And each act must be open to the transmission of life !!!

In a lot of cases, women watch pornography for educational reasons. How else do they find out what other women are getting? They can then discard all athletics they don't fancy but it allows them to look experienced when they refuse certain activities too disgusting to contemplate. There are always a few!

from my understanding it tends to be women of the bi and gay persuasion who watch the most porn, they do seem to be more comfortable talking about past sexual activitys as well.
Most women claim not to masturbate but most do it anyway.

Porn unfortunately usually caters more to the mans satisfaction, and in the process comes out as being rough on the female with scant regard to her satisfaction. So for a woman it leaves a bitter taste and a hope that someone does not copy after watching and pain her to satisfy his needs.But by and large with more openess and acceptance of sex womens interest may have increased
